The California Highway Patrol Awards ModUcom Multi-Million Dollar Contract

The California Highway Patrol will upgrade their current Radio Dispatch Console Systems with ModUcom’s state of the art UltraCom-IP Radio Dispatch Consoles

Modular Communication Systems (ModUcom) today announced their multi-million dollar award by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to upgrade the CHP’s radio dispatch consoles with ModUcom’s UltraCom-IP, digital dispatch communication consoles. 

ModUCom’s innovative and advanced engineering technologies were able to meet the requirements of the CHP as well as proving to be very cost-effective for the California Highway Patrol.  The deployment of the UltraCom-IP Radio Dispatch Consoles will occur in the CHP’s 25 communications facilities across the state.

The California Highway Patrol employs approximately 1100 dispatch personnel that interface, via radio, to approximately 6000 to 7000 CHP Officers on a 24/7 basis, 365 days a year. The primary objective for the CHP is to provide immediate two-way voice communications between dispatch personnel and CHP officers. The tandem collaboration that plays out daily between the CHP dispatchers and the CHP officers serves to protect the health and safety of the public as well as the CHP officers as they traverse several thousand miles of the heavily traveled roadways across the State of California.

ModUcom will deploy in all of the CHP’s 25 communications centers, the state of the art UltraCom-IP Radio Dispatch Consoles that employ a proven high-reliability, fault-tolerant central switch architecture with VoIP capabilities. The deployment will occur in several stages with the final stage set to complete in June 30, 2011.
